Lower Airspace Radar Service

Description

Lower Airspace Radar Service (LARS) is a Radar Advisory Service provided in many parts of the UK to aircraft flying at lower altitudes outside controlled airspace in order to assist with aircraft navigation generally and with separation from other aircraft and avoidance of protected airspace for which no clearance to enter has been obtained in particular.

LARS makes use of existing civil and military radar units to provide extended coverage within radar and radio range of the units.

ATC Service similar to LARS may be available in other territories and if it is, details may be found in the ENR section of the State AIP.
